VHU hosts volunteers for its own projects and ad those working in other organizations. As a volunteer, you will experience traditional Ugandan life and participate in daily activities such as visiting elderly villagers, collecting water from a well, teaching children in outside classrooms, assisting in the brick making programs, feeding animals as well as health outreach programs.
Volunteers are hoted in our home known as “urban”. It is situated in Mukono Town along Kayunga Road, 5 minutes drive from the centre of Mukono town and about 45 minutes from Kampala City. The home consists of two houses all self contained. The home primarily hosts volunteers, but other travelers, tourists and couch-surfers are also very welcome to stay. For volunteers, it is a place to relax after the intense experiences of the day, a place to chat, to rest, watch TV or go for a walk around the neighborhood. From the home, we can help arrange trips and expeditions around the country. These include wildlife safaris, hiking, white water rafting, horse-riding, visiting Murchison Falls, Queen Elizabeth and other Uganda’s most beautiful national parks.
